Description
The soldier is sitting on the sidewalk beneath the 405 freeway at Wilshire Blvd. He plays his horn for commuters waiting at the light at Sepulveda Blvd, near the Veteran's Hospital in West Los Angeles. During rush hour, it can take up to 20 minutes to travel half a mile to this location, only to stop and go again on the freeway. Nevertheless, he is often present and happy to play his music. I stumbled upon him while I was on a bus to capture this moment. It's amazing how some individuals can leave a lasting impression without even realizing it. So, I'd like to take this opportunity to thank this Soldier for his service.
Tied for second place in the Memorial Day - Military Art contest on Fine Art America, 5/23/2017.

Excellent capture in B&W, leaves a great impression on ones soul, Jenny. We can all learn from this soldier. 'Keep on playing your music", "never give up"...heart feeling, and in spite of the sadness of this situation, also very uplifting!!!

This is so good! This works on so many levels but as a former trumpet player I think this is just cool. My hats off to him and to you for getting this shot. L/F

Jenny, this image caught my eye. Superb monochromatic presentation with a powerfully moving storyline. May we as a society never forget our dear Veterans who have sacrificed so much for our precious freedoms. Blessings on this image. F/L
