Artist's Description
One of the two grand staircases at each end of the lobby of the historic Pantages Theater in Hollywood, California, USA located on the famous Hollywood Boulevard near Vine. After several touch-ups over the years, the Hollywood Boulevard showplace was renovated at the turn of the 21st century to recapture its 1930 look and luxury, just in time for the highly-anticipated L.A. Premiere of Disney's live-action THE LION KING in September 2000.
All in all, some 300 people worked 162,960 worker hours utilizing 84,027 square feet of gold, silver, copper, and bronze colored leaf; 7,260 square yards of new carpeting; 2,000 square feet of marble; 1,843 gallons of paint; and 1,224 new light bulbs to prepare it for the new century.
This image was taken in February 2016 during the running of the stage musical "Dirty Dancing."

I have recently returned to my Kansas roots after living in Los Angeles for 45 years. I always carry my camera with me. I like to look beyond the ordinary to find something extraordinary - be it a clever juxtaposition, a contradiction, a burst of color, or a touch of whimsy. Photography is my way of expressing how I see the world. I capture what catches my eye in the moment. It's a spontaneous act, but not unconsidered. It's important to me and it's a foundational part of who I am. Through my photography, I stay true to myself and convey my authentic self. It is the vision of the artist that produces the art. I appreciate every method and technique an artist uses to achieve that vision. I sometimes use digital applications as well as...

Thank you Jenny for posting to the Art in Architecture group. This image is lovely in the way it was originally constructed with so much ornate detail. That's what makes it so luxurious looking in my opinion. Thanks for contributing!
