Description
It's nighttime on Westwood Boulevard in West Los Angeles. The street is bordered by thick deciduous trees that create an umbrella-like structure with open spaces inside. These trees, also known as "Indian laurel figs," were planted in Southern California in the late 1950s and early 1960s due to their ability to thrive in tough urban conditions. However, as they matured, they caused cracked sidewalks, invaded sewer lines, blocked street signs, and were expensive to prune. Since the mid-1990s, many of these trees have been removed. Nevertheless, this one still thrives.

This is a very unusual tree. Your title is "Up Tree." What is it that you are seeing?
Jenny Revitz Soper replied:
These trees line Westwod Blvd in Los Angeles, near UCLA. This one faded into darkness very quickly.
