In June 2015, I saw some Gerbera daisies at a flower stand in the BART station, Montgomery Street, San Francisco, California. Their faces were so fresh and friendly that they caught my attention.
Gerbera daisies are currently the fifth most popular flower in the world, ranking behind roses, carnations, chrysanthemums, and tulips. Their meanings are similar to those attributed to the general daisy family, such as innocence and purity. Additionally, they are considered a classic symbol of beauty. However, the Gerbera variety holds an extra meaning of cheerfulness, which is attributed to their perky variety of colors.
I've returned to my roots in Kansas after spending 45 years in Los Angeles. My passion for photography has always been an essential part of me, and I never leave home without my camera. I strive to capture the extraordinary in the ordinary, using clever juxtapositions, contradictions, bursts of color, and touches of whimsy. My photography is a true expression of how I perceive the world, staying authentic and genuine to myself.
