Westwood is a neighborhood that is situated in the northern central region of the Westside area of Los Angeles, California. It is famously known for being the home of the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).
The neighborhood was developed after 1919, with the construction of a new campus of the University of California, which was eventually opened in 1926. Other than the UCLA campus, Westwood Village is also an attractive spot and is popular for its historic motion picture theaters, restaurants, and shopping centers. Additionally, the Westwood Village Memorial Park Cemetery and the Hammer Museum are some of the other famous attractions in the area. Holmby Hills, which is located nearby, is considered one of the wealthiest residential areas in Los Angeles, and the Geffen Playhouse is also a popular spot among theater-goers. Lastly, a prominent feature in the area is a Mormon temple.
