Description
The unsung heros of summer, the Los Angeles County Lifeguards. They make sure we are safe in the water. The L.A. County Fire Department runs the Lifeguard division. These people go through a rigorous application process and training. Out of 350 applicants, only about 35 are called back. Every year they must re-certify.
The photograph shows Zuma Beach, a wonderful south-facing beach just north of Malibu, California, USA. Zuma was the go-to beach for most of us in the west San Fernando Valley in the 70s. I imagine it still is.
